"Painting makes me feel really good - it makes me feel proud".

Celia Sandy was a Yindjibarndi artist who was born on Mt Florence Station. Celia started painting in 2011, joining her family at Yinjaa-Barni Art and working alongside her sisters, Aileen and Allery Sandy, and her daughter Dawn. Drawing on early memories of the shapes and colours of the Hamersley Ranges in her home Country, Celia used a heavily-laden brush to delineate these landforms and the sun-shot rock faces that characterise the Pilbara landscapes. She exhibited works in the Pilbara, Perth and Sydney and won a Cossack Art Award for Landscape Painting, Acrylic (2013).
